11.09.09 - Jetstar Engine Returned |

SB International exports recently completed the re-export of a Jetstar A320 engine being returned to Sydney that the import department had brought in a month ago – you would think this was easy with the number of flights going across the ditch…. but no. To send the engine from here to Sydney it has to be trucked to Auckland and loaded on a 747 freighter aircraft but these only fly across the Tasman into Melbourne so it then has to be trucked from Melbourne to Sydney. Despite the fact that the A320 is a small aircraft, the engine can only be transport on the main deck of a 747 freighter aircraft. One of the ironic things about this shipment is that the engine is for a Jetstar aircraft, but they do not have an aircraft large enough to carry this as a piece of cargo so we have to utilise either Qantas or Singapore airlines freighter.
